Online Contests, Sweepstakes

Contest Blogger Taps into Growing Popularity of Online Contests, Sweepstakes

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) March 3, 2008 -- When Cleveland-area web designer Phil Van Treuren got an idea last year to start a blog that would review online contests, he never dreamed it would someday become one of the most popular places on the Internet for people looking to win prizes. Less than nine months later, Van Treuren's site, Contest Blogger, is visited by thousands of web surfers a week and has proven to be a solid income source for its webmaster, as well.

Van Treuren said that he knew Contest Blogger would be a unique new theme in the Blogsphere, but didn't expect its popularity to soar so rapidly.

Originally, Van Treuren wrote reviews about every contest that was sent to Contest Blogger, but the amount of submissions became too large for him to handle. After experimenting with charging for reviews, Van Treuren decided to transform Contest Blogger into an online forum where people could post about their own contests for free.

Today, the Contest Blogger Forum allows visitors to search and post about contests and sweepstakes as well as free samples, online coupons and gift certificate offers from across the web. But the visitors aren't the only ones who have found a benefit from Contest Blogger: Van Treuren also generates income by placing advertising on the forum.

You can visit Contest Blogger online at contestblogger.com.

Central Bank tighten's monetary policy.

Due to double-digit inflation, the Central Bank in Indonesian has been hiking its benchmark interest rate since May, although liquidity in the financial system is still  very tight.

As oil prices increases in the first semester, so did the state budget, to offset this the government raised fuel prices. This of course caused producers to increase the cost of their products  further increasing inflation.

Although the Bank rates increased the central bank certifictaes outstanding have fallen.

The hikes in the Banf rate might give the impression the central bank is indeed tightening its monetary policy. This may not be the case.

This is because, despite the hikes in the BI rate, central bank certificates (SBI) outstanding have actually fallen.

The govenment will need to find a way to accelerate government projects to try to increase liquidity.

Senate ready to decrease spending for some land-conservation programs

Did you know that the Senate is ready to lower its spending on land conservation programs, this after it just passed the new farm bill.

It looks like this will effect the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, which subsidizes the costs of improvements to farm and feedlots.

The program is to get $1.05 billion in 2009 under a Senate appropriations bill which is a $285 million cut from the level that was set for 2009, by the farm bill. .

It looks like just another promise that will not be kept by the Democrats.

The full Senate has yet to vote on the agricultural spending bill, and there has been no action so far in the House on its version of the measure.
